The Iranian Journal of Medical Microbiology (IJMM) is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record. The Journal follows the COPE guidelines to handle errors, corrections, retractions, and other post-publication issues in a transparent and ethical manner.
1. Article Withdrawal:
Used for articles in press that contain significant errors or were submitted in duplicate. The article is withdrawn before formal publication.
2. Corrigendum:
Published to correct a significant error made by the authors that affects the scholarly integrity of the work but does not invalidate the results.
3. Erratum:
Published to correct a significant error introduced by the Journal during the production or publication process.
4. Addendum:
An addition by the authors to provide further information or clarification. Addenda are subject to peer review and editorial approval.
5. Expression of Concern:
Issued by the Editor if there is inconclusive evidence of misconduct, or if an institutional investigation is pending, delayed, or incomplete.
6. Article Retraction:
A severe measure reserved for articles that are seriously flawed due to clear evidence of plagiarism, data fabrication, or other misconduct, or in cases of honest error so significant that the main findings are unreliable. Retraction notices are linked to the original article and clearly state the reason. Authors’ institutions are notified when misconduct is established, and the Journal may impose sanctions such as bans on future submissions.
7. Article Removal:
An extreme measure applied for legal reasons, such as defamatory content or infringement of legal rights.
8. Article Replacement
In rare cases where an article contains seriously flawed information due to misconduct, the Editor-in-Chief may consider replacing it with a corrected version, accompanied by a detailed explanation of the changes.
Post-Publication Discussions
