Ethics Approval & Informed Consent

Research published in the Iranian Journal of Medical Microbiology must adhere to internationally recognized ethical standards.

1. Research Involving Human Participants:
All studies involving human participants must be conducted in accordance with the principles of the latest revision of the World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinki. Manuscripts reporting such research must include a clear statement confirming that the study protocol was reviewed and approved by an appropriate institutional review board (IRB) or ethics committee, including the name of the approving body and the approval or protocol number.

2. Informed Consent and Confidentiality:
Authors must confirm that written informed consent was obtained from all participants or their legal guardians prior to participation in the study. For manuscripts that include identifiable personal data, clinical details, or images (e.g., case reports), explicit written informed consent for publication must be obtained. All reasonable efforts must be made to protect participant anonymity and confidentiality. The Journal reserves the right to request copies of consent documentation where necessary.

3. Research Involving Animals
Studies involving animals must include a statement confirming approval by an institutional animal care and use committee (IACUC) or an equivalent ethical review body. Animal research must comply with internationally accepted ethical standards and guidelines, including the ARRIVE 2.0 guidelines and the “Essential 10” checklist.

4. Compliance Statement:

By submitting a manuscript, authors affirm that their research complies with all relevant ethical requirements, that appropriate ethical approvals were obtained, and that informed consent procedures were properly followed.
