زمینه و هدف: آنتریت باکتریایی در بره‌های نوزاد رخ می‌دهد که از دید اقتصادی یک بیماری مهم بوده و می‌تواند باعث واگیری و مرگ و میر بالا در بره‌ها گردد، بنابراین، درمان ضد باکتری به‌صورت اورژانسی ضروری است. گیاه پنیرک به دلیل دارا بودن خواص دارویی، جایگاه مهمی در درمان‌های طب سنتی دارد. مطالعۀ حاضر به‌منظور ارزیابی فعالیت ضدباکتریایی عصارۀ گیاه پنیرک علیه باکتری‌های پاتوژن جداشده از مدفوع اسهالی بره‌ها هدف‌گذاری شده است.
مواد و روش‌کار: فعالیت ضدباکتریایی عصارۀ هیدروالکلی پنیرک با استفاده از آزمون‌های انتشار در آگار و روش رقیق کردن در محیط مایع، حداقل غلظت باکتری‌کشی و حداقل غلظت مهارکنندگی روی جدایه‌های سالمونلا انتریکا، اشریشیاکلی و سویه‌های استاندارد سالمونلا انتریکا ۱۷۰۹-CIP۱۰۴۱۱۵ اشریشیاکلی  PTCC۱۲۷۰بررسی و داده‌ها تجزیه و تحلیل آماری شدند.
یافته‌ها و بحث: نتایج حاصل نشان داد که حداقل غلظت مهارکنندگی و حداقل غلظت باکتری‌کشی عصاره در مورد اشریشیاکلی به‌ترتیب  ۲۵/۲۱ و ۵۶/۱۱ میلی‌گرم بر میلیلیتر بود و حداقل غلظت مهارکنندگی و حداقل غلظت باکتری‌کشی عصاره بر سالمونلا انتریکا۰۰/۸۰ و ۰۰/۴۲ میلی‌گرم بر میلی‌لیتر بود. نتیجه‌گیری نهایی این پژوهش نشان داد که پنیرک دارای خواص ضد باکتریایی است و می‌تواند به‌عنوان جایگزین مناسبی برای تولید داروی‌های جدید ضد باکتریایی با طیف اثر گسترده مورد استفاده قرارگیرد.
