در حالی‌که بروسلوزیس در کشورهای توسعه‌یافته و پیشرفته تقریباً ریشه‌کن شده است، در کشورهای در حال توسعه از نواحی مدیترانه تا شبه قارۀ هندوستان و کشورهای عربی سبب مشکلات جدی بهداشتی میشود که این موضوع در بررسی گزارش‌ها بسیار مشاهده میشود. بیش از صد سال است که روشهای متعدد سرولوژیک در تشخیص این بیماری معرفی و به‌کارگیری شدهاند، اما هیچ یک قادر نبودهاند تا به‌حال نتایج رضایتبخشی را فراهم کنند لذا پزشکان پیوسته در موارد مذکور براساس علائم بارز کلینیکی اقدام به درمان بیماران با رژیمهای درمانی گوناگون و بعضاً غیراختصاصی میکنند که حداقل نتیجۀ آن شکست درمان و عود بروسلوزیس است. در این مطالعه کوشش شده است با بررسی اجمالی عوامل موثر در تشخیص سرولوژیک بیماری، مشکلات کنونی بررسی شده و راهکارهایی برای بهبود وضعیت تشخیصی بروسلوزیس به‌ویژه برای آزمایشگاههای بومی پیشنهاد شود.
