زمینه و هدف: یکی از مهم‌ترین بیماری‌های انگلی مشترک انسان و دام، هیداتیدوز است. هیداتیدوز در ایران نیز بومی بوده و تقریبا علت بستری‌شدن 1درصد بیماران در بخش‌های جراحی است. هدف از این مطالعه، بررسی وضعیت اپیدمیولوژیک کیست هیداتیک بین بیماران جراحی‌شده در بیمارستان گلستان شهر اهواز از سال 1390-1381 با استفاده از پرونده‌های بایگانی‌شدۀ بیماران است.
مواد و روش‌کار: این تحقیق، مطالعه‌ای توصیفی-تحلیلی گذشته نگر است. در فاصلۀ زمانی مذکور، 55 بیمار در بیمارستان گلستان اهواز تحت عمل جراحی کیست هیداتیک قرارگرفته بودند و اطلاعات موجود در پروندۀ بیماران، با مراجعه به بایگانی‌های مربوطه در بیمارستان مذکور بررسی شدند.
یافته‌ها و نتیجه‌گیری: از میان 55 بیمار بررسی‌شده، تعداد 37 نفر (
۶۷/3درصد) زن و 18 نفر (۳۲/7درصد) مرد بودند. بیشترین درگیری در کبد با 47 نمونه (۸۵/5درصد) و پس از آن ریه با 5 نمونه (۹درصد) وجود داشت. در نتایج به‌دست‌آمده، بیشترین شیوع در افراد ساکن شهر به تعداد 33 نفر (۶۰درصد) مشاهده شد و 22 نفر (۴۰درصد) نیز ساکن روستا بودند. نتایج این مطالعه بیانگر آن است که وقوع بیماری در استان خوزستان، در بازۀ زمانی ذکرشده شایان توجه بوده و لزوم انجام مطالعات جامع‌تر و به‌روزتر احساس می‌شود.
